Google SEO in the First 90 Days: What Should a Hong Kong Website Fix First?

The first 90 days of SEO often become a crowded activity list: rewrite every title, publish articles, add location pages, change navigation and build a new dashboard. The team stays busy but still cannot answer whether Google is finding the right pages, whether those pages explain the service, or whether a suitable visitor can take the next step.

A better starting point is to choose one repair queue. This guide helps an English-speaking Hong Kong team decide whether its main constraint is indexation, service-page clarity, internal links or measurement. For the wider model, begin with the practical Google SEO guide for Hong Kong businesses.

Choose one repair queue

QueueTypical evidenceFirst decisionWhat progress looks like
Index and URL versionsImportant pages have no visibility, redirects conflict, or a migration is unresolvedVerify representative URLs before changing contentGoogle can crawl and process the intended version
Service-page journeyVisibility exists but scope, fit, proof or next steps remain unclearImprove the accountable service pageA suitable reader can understand the offer and reach the correct contact route
Internal links and page rolesSeveral pages answer the same intent or important pages are isolatedName one primary URL and connect supporting pagesThe cluster has a clear reading and decision path
MeasurementReports show rankings but cannot connect queries, pages and enquiriesAgree a baseline and review definitionThe team can explain which entry pages deserve continued investment

A site that has just changed URLs usually starts with index and version checks. A site with useful visibility but weak commercial pages starts with the service journey. Do not select a queue because its label sounds more advanced; select it because the evidence shows that it blocks the next business decision.

Days 1–14: build a representative URL board

Choose a small sample that represents the website: homepage, priority service page, pillar guide, high-value supporting article, contact route, one recently changed or historical URL, and relevant local or ecommerce pages. Record the final status, canonical, robots state, sitemap presence, important internal-link sources and available Search Console evidence.

  1. Check the final URL and HTTP result. Identify redirect chains, soft errors and unexpected destinations.
  2. Compare controllable signals. Internal links, canonical, hreflang and sitemap should support the intended indexable URL.
  3. Use URL Inspection for Google's view. Source code shows the site's declaration; Search Console shows reported processing and Google-selected canonical information when available.
  4. Record uncertainty. A missing Search Analytics row is not proof that a URL is offline or unindexed. Keep index evidence and performance tables separate.

The deliverable is a short URL-level issue list with owners and acceptance checks, not a generic “technical SEO completed” label.

Days 15–45: improve the pages that carry a commercial decision

Only rewrite pages that are accountable for a real decision. A Hong Kong service page should explain the problem it handles, who it suits, geographic and language scope, what will be reviewed or delivered, important limits, what the client must provide and how to start.

For English-speaking teams, the journey must remain usable in English. A reader should be able to move from this guide to Google search SEO services, compare support using the agency buyer's checklist, and reach the English contact page without being sent to Traditional Chinese content to complete the core decision.

Days 15–45: give every supporting page a role

Map the relationship between the pillar, service page, tools and supporting articles. Use descriptive links that explain why the next page is useful. If several URLs answer the same search intent, first review page roles and internal links. Do not reach for canonical or URL consolidation until the content and technical evidence support that decision.

  • The pillar explains the operating model.
  • The service page defines delivery scope and the contact path.
  • A technical guide answers one focused implementation or diagnosis question.
  • A buyer guide supports evaluation, access, ownership and acceptance decisions.
  • A GEO page handles verifiable brand facts and public AI answer surfaces without claiming guaranteed citations.

Days 46–90: use the same evidence definitions

Compare query and page data for a consistent date range, then review the landing-page and enquiry signals available to the business. Ask four questions:

  1. Which queries are beginning to show the intended page?
  2. Which important pages have index or canonical problems rather than a traffic problem?
  3. Can a suitable visitor move from the landing page to a service or contact action?
  4. What one constraint should the next cycle address?

Clicks, impressions, CTR and average position describe Search performance, not revenue. Forms, calls and WhatsApp records may show business contact, but attribution can be incomplete. Keep the limitations visible rather than combining everything into one unsupported SEO score.

Decision gates at day 14, 45 and 90

Review pointContinue whenDefer whenStop or redesign when
Day 14The priority URL and issue are verifiedGoogle has not reprocessed a recent change and signals are otherwise consistentThe proposed work targets the wrong URL or lacks an owner
Day 45The service and internal-link journey is clearer and validation passesEditorial, legal or development dependencies are still openNew pages duplicate an existing intent without added user value
Day 90Search and enquiry evidence supports another focused cycleThe sample is too small for a responsible performance conclusionThe activity cannot be connected to an accountable page or business need

A useful day-90 handover

The team should have a priority URL register, issue and change history, owners, validation results, Search Console baseline, known measurement limitations and one recommended next cycle. It should not need a promise that every keyword will improve by a fixed date.

If the current issue is still unclear, review the Google SEO pillar. If external implementation is needed, compare the scope on YUSIHK's Google search SEO service page. If AI answer visibility is part of the brief, keep that work connected to the separate evidence and technical responsibilities in Hong Kong GEO services.
